Sauna infrared heaters are commonly use one of two types of infrared transmission mode. Either the heat is transmitted via a panel or the infrared rays are reflected onto a panel. Ceramic panel type sauna infrared heaters rely on the use of beneficial far infrared rays emitted when infrared heaters are operated within a small space--usually enclosed in cedar--is heated. Flat carbon black heaters are the safe and long-lasting patented ceramic infrared heaters which use heating elements of carbon black graphite polymer attached to heat-resistant insulating glass-filled epoxy lamination sheet (called a glass cloth) by a monobloc molding finish (single block). Heating of the black carbon elements produces the emission of far infrared rays into the body of the subject. A typical sauna infrared heater will only require about $10 in electrical costs each month. The circuit runs on ordinary household current. Black carbon is produced by the partial combustion of petroleum products. Black carbon is a form of amorphous carbon that has an extremely high surface area to volume ratio, and as such it is one of the first nano materials to find common use. It is similar to soot but with a much higher surface area to volume ratio. The use of a sauna infrared heater or a black carbon sauna does not heat the air of the sauna, as heating the air affects only the surface of the body. Black carbon heaters emit far infrared waves into the core of the body, heating the body and thereby releasing toxins from the cells. Instead, the air of the sauna is warm, about 93 degrees, much like sunlight on the skin, yet the far infrared emissions coming from the black carbon heater are reaching under the skin stimulating the cells. A black carbon heater never dries and damages the skin through the use of excess heat. The air inside traditional saunas can be extremely high which can cause sensations of being short of breath Specifically, the use of black carbon, also called lamp black, carbon black, or soot in sauna infrared heaters releases infrared rays that are the correct length to infiltrate the human body. These helpful rays stimulate the cells of the body and cause them to release toxins such as mercury, nickel, lead and cadmium. Harmful substances such as alcohol, tobacco, and sulfuric acid are also removed through the use of a far infrared black carbon heater and sauna.
